Motion toolkit

A complete motion system built to keep Vimeo’s brand consistent across all video content. It works like a set of lightweight After Effects templates, with clear rules for intros, outros, titles, lower thirds, graphic placement, frames, safe zones, and animation presets. Create in partnership with Koto as a part of Vimeo rebrand the toolkit establishes the core motion behaviors that define how the brand moves, making it easy for any team to create polished, on-brand videos with minimal effort.

Here are some of the key components of it:

Key Motion principles

Build: inspired by the beginning of a story. Bringing you into the world, developing characters, and setting the stage. Here our motion is focused on building, introducing— and giving you a reason to stay. It builds and fades, gently drawing you in.

Crescendo: inspired by the power of pace. When a story reaches its climax there’s an excitement and energy present. Here we give our motion an energy drink—it repeats, cuts, scrubs and speeds by. You’ll feel like you’re right there on the ride
with us.

Resolution: inspired by the growth, evolution and change that characters go through in a story. Here our motion changes shape, color or form. It becomes something new, and leaves us feeling inspired.

Intro/Outro

Following three main principles of motion (Position. Scale, Opacity) these templates offer a variety of animated title card templates for introducing sections, topics, or key information within your videos. These animations help to visually break up content and improve readability.

UI Expression

For UI animations we want
to avoid over-exaggerating motion. We make it feel true to life with slight embellishments to add excitement and movement. I created a set of presets that define the core UI motion behaviors, ensuring consitency of motion across all videos assets.

Lockups

The toolkit provides guidelines and animated templates for visually representing partnerships within video content. It ensures that partner logos and names are displayed clearly and consistently, maintaining brand integrity for all parties.

Lower Thirds

Animated templates for lower thirds, which are graphic overlays typically placed in the lower third of the screen to display names, titles, locations, or other brief information.

Social  media  templates

Social media templates built into the Motion Toolkit set the baseline for how our content moves and communicates. They define core behaviors, guide placements, and keep the key information safely within frame so every post feels consistent.
